Getting to Great Barrier Island is an adventure in itself. The island is in a remote location so it means getting there is not always easy and occasionally changes to travel plans may occur due to weather or other factors. A degree of flexibility and the ability to enjoy a unique experience is helpful.

	Always take into account the weather and the potential for delays during the busy holiday periods.
	Plan your flight times & boat times carefully to factor in possible delays.
	If you have connections to make when returning to the mainland allow plenty of time for these.
	Remember the weight limit on the airlines to avoid luggage being left behind.

There are two main airlines offering regular flights to Great Barrier Island:

Great Barrier Airlines
departs 7.45am, 10.15am and 4.00pm from Auckland airport. Departure times from the island are 9.00am, 1.00pm, and 5.00pm. Additional departure times are available in summer and weekends. Flights also depart from North Shore airport.

Fly My Sky departs from Auckland airport at 7.45am, 10.30am and 4.00pm. Departure times from the island are 9.00am, 1.30pm, and 5.00pm. Additional departure times are available in summer and weekends.

A number of smaller charter airlines offer services from Auckland, Waiheke Island, Whangarei & the Coromandel. Contact us if you would like details of these.
